What people say about The Devonshire Arms

We had a lovely night at The Devonshire Arms last Sunday. The meal in the restaurant was really good and the staff were very friendly and informative. There was a real attention to detail with fabulous different leaf teas. We particularly liked the fact that we ordered breakfast and it was cooked for us rather than a buffet breakfast! We would recommend the pub as a great place to stay, particularly if you are wanting to walk in Chatsworth.

Staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. Food in the restaurant was very good and was really dog friendly.

The service and food were exceptional. Position for visiting local attractions was perfect. Plenty of parking. Shop within walking distance. Thirty minute walk to Chatsworth through the park along the river.

Everything, location was perfect. We stayed for a birthday night out and thoroughly enjoyed it. Staff were very friendly and welcoming, the food was amazing. It’s a perfect base for walks in that area.

A perfect stop after a day's walking. A good room, good bar (esp. their own IPA!), good food and excellent staff from arriving to leaving.

We stopped by for a drink after a walk through Chatsworth, as its a lovely short walk from Chatsworth House. Great outside place to stop for a drink and the restaurant was packed and the food looked very enticing. Lisa and the team couldn't have made us feel more welcome and when we needed help with local knowledge on the local transport system, Lisa came to the rescue, a massive thank you.

Absolutely lovely pub and a very enjoyable meal. We visited on a busy bank holiday weekend and the staff were rushed off their feet, but still found time to be friendly and helpful. The food was really good and we were impressed with the range of vegan options. I loved the miso mushroom burger, and the chocolate mousse was a real treat too. My husband who isn’t vegan enjoyed the shepherds pie very much. The restaurant area is light and airy, with well spaced tables and really nice decor. It looks and feels modern and welcoming. A lovey place for a meal, highly recommended.

Stayed her for three nights in room 6 with a four poster bed . Beautiful room . The restaurant has great meals , we had lamb Arayes, souvlaki kebab , pork belly and shepherds pie - they were all great . Great local beers and a very good wine list . By far the best place we ate in . Everyone is really friendly too - great cooked breakfast ! Would definitely recommend it and come back . Ideal for a visit to Chatsworth

During our recent stay in the Hope Valley, we ate at the Devonshire Arms in Baslow on four out of our six evenings. We kept returning there because the food was excellent and the service exceptional. We tried the steak and ale pie, Thai curry, fish and chips and burger and chips (on separate nights!). All were excellent. Then came the best sticky toffee pudding (with butterscotch sauce and ice cream) that we’ve ever had. The bar staff in general were extremely welcoming and Alice in particular was outstanding. She remembered our drinks order following on from our first visit and was always attentive and friendly during meal service. This doesn’t generally happen in our experience and it made our evenings special.
Thanks everyone - we’ll be back next time we visit the Peaks.

We’re thrilled to have found somewhere a bit different in the Peaks, one of our favourite places, where we can take weekend visitors or else head over midweek with the dog for a relaxed, delicious supper and try many different things at once.

We booked for dinner on Monday 12 October from entering the premises to leaving was a lovely experience. Covid precautions were spot on, temperature taken, explanation of wearing masks whilst not seated. Tables were well spaced and chalk boards on the wall serving as a menu. Our waitress Leah was smiley very helpful explaining the different dishes and an absolute asset to your business with her friendly helpful approach to all customers we witnessed her serving. So impressed we booked for Tuesday where again we were treated with the same exemplary service. Food excellent on both nights. Will definitely return when we are walking in the area. Good luck to you all in these trying times and keep safe.

After a walk through chatsworth estate with our dog stopped for a Sunday lunch . Warm , cosy and comfortable dog friendly bar area . Very pleased to find a vegetarian option , roast butternut squash instead of meat , so I could enjoy the traditional roast experience. Gorgeous food, polite and attentive service. Lovely experience and will go back as live locally.

Really good menu and attentive and helpful staff Food was quick but not rushed and excellent, the Whitebait was the best we had ever had. Pudding was also very good. Good selection of ales and wines.

We stayed here overnight so decided to have dinner in the restaurant. Starters were lovely - especially the chicken wings with a lime dipping sauce, so good would definitely recommend. The mains were great, we had the osso bucco, and the fish of the day which were both great, accompanied by a lovely bottle of wine. Service was great and very polite, we thoroughly enjoyed the evening.
